The winner in Zimbabwe's 31st election 2013 Is?

No love lost on President Mugabe's remarks on Matebeleland South people 's exodus to SA.

I had not yet got a chance to respond to President's remarks on Matabeleland South last week during of his campaign stop in Mashonaland. For starters his statements did not  surprise me at all. It only showed pattern of deep rooted tribal misunderstanding and hatred that this man  harbours. The man must be forgiven as he is getting desperate. Using the old tricks of divide and rule, something which did work when he used it back in 70s and 80s. Now that even his won 'sons" are opposing him. The old man has only one old  trick in his bag. Blame it on some minority. In 2000, whites were to blame. In 2008, the West was to blame. For all your record/s. Nobody has traveling the West more than him. Check the Gunnies book of record. In 1992 he only stayed in Zim for two weeks. Coming to South African issue, in all history of Zimbabwe and Rhodesia put together, people have migrated out of Zimbabwe more than any other time during his leadership. In short that is a reflection on his own leadership in retrospect. It no use getting mad at the old man. One would expect a man of his age to be behaving respectful and dignified but alas a leopard will not change its skin.

President Mugabe's remarks on "Matebeleland" angers people!

Mhambi speaks on Mugabe's remarks!
  • Mugabe Mocks Zimbabweans in the SA.

May immediate concern is his reference to Matabeleland during his days as a teacher at Empandeni

This is an unfortunate statement from a man who has been a head of state. The comparison with what used to happen in the past might be ok, but is he aware of other factors that have made people go to South Africa post independence? Firstly, some of them ran away from his genocidal stint in the region when he was consolidating his power and ethnic hegemony. As a result of the genocide, which he has never taken any meaningful stand to resolve to date, most of the labour force was displaced in a deliberate program to depopulate the region.

Remember the Simaba Makone 1979 grand plan and its 14 page update? It has been fulfilled to the dot. Morgan has been at the helm of the labour movement when people in the region were being systematically displaced. Meetings were held a hotels in Bulawayo to check on the progress of the diabolic program of emasculating and dismembering the people of the region. For Mugabe to turn around and laugh at our people is tragic. The factors that lead people to go to South Africa pre-independence are also known. This raises questions as to what liberation war some people fought and what they fought for. We assumed that the old generation would have been telling us the correct history of independence and the dynamics that were at play.

This mockery must be censured. A state president cannot be allowed to made such statements in public, honestly we deserve a better deal as a people. Matabeleland must take exception to this kind of talk. The only punishment this man and his party deserves is withholding our vote. Give ZANU no vote. For this the party must definitely pay. If it means him going the genocide way so be it. If God be the God of justice as I know Him to be one day soon, we will be free. Just like He told Moses to tell Pharaoh "Let My People Go!" We are praying and Lamentation 5:1 to the end. God will hear our prayer soon.

What must also be brought to the attention of Mugabe is the fact that we in this mess as country because of his wrong decisions. Before Independence he squandered an opportunity of building a nation by deciding to contest election alone as ZANU. The wisdom of that decision has never been given to date. That leaves it subject to speculation and our experience in the past 33 yrs confirm some of the speculation. The first wrong decision after independence was to kill a whole population for very personal reason. The best response he could give was that it was a moment of madness. Surely. Can he tell the nation that he is happy that he killed/massacred +20 000 citizens because the country is prospering? His other wrong decision was his failure to either read or follow what Nkomo told him in the letter that he wrote to him. The third wrong decision was his failure to implement what is the last chapter of Nkomo's Story of My life -Freedom lies ahead. If there is a favour that he will do for the country, it is just those two tasks. The rest are mere symptoms. Ilizwi lomuntu omdala aliweli phansi. We do not deserve this poverty and instability when Mugabe knows the right thing to do. What must be remembered is that the coming generation may not be as understanding as Joshua Nkomo. May someone close to him have the courage that Nathan had when dealing with David tell the president and first secretary of ZANU that "Thou art the Man" We are in this humiliating situation as a people because of him. What happened to the Switzerland of Africa-The Bread Basket?

    Josh Mhambi

    D/Director Planning Strategy & Implementation
    MDC - Green
George M Mkhwanazi Very true Josh. These remarks from a state president are veru irresponsible. By locating the eGoli phenomenon in the pre-independence era Matibiri is trying to absolve himself and his government/party from being accused as the culprits in the Down-South migrations of people from Matebeleland. He won't getting away with it!

NoViolet Bulawayo makes Man Booker Prize longlist

NoViolet Bulawayo. (Caine Prize)
The longlist for the prize, one of the English language's top fiction awards, names 13 writers from seven countries.
Selected from 151 titles, it also includes authors from Britain, New Zealand, Canada, Australia, Malaysia and Ireland.
Announcing the list, the judge Robert Macfarlane said: "This is surely the most diverse longlist in Man Booker history: wonderfully various in terms of geography, form, length and subject."
"These 13 outstanding novels range from the traditional to the experimental, from the first century AD to the present day, from 100 pages to 1 000, and from Shanghai to Hendon."
If you thought the name NoViolet Bulawayo is an improbable one, it’s probably because hers is a moniker. Born Elizabeth Tshele in 1981 in Tsholotsho, in the south of Zimbabwe,  she moved to the United States when she was 18.
A previous winner of the Caine Prize, she is also the recipient of the Truman Capote Fellowship. She won the Caine Prize in 2011 for the story Hitting Budapest, included in her debut novel as the first chapter. The beautifully written story is told using a deceptively simple but mature child narrator.
It begins: “We are on our way to Budapest: Bastard and Chipo and Godknows and Sbho and Stina and me. We are going even though we are not allowed to cross Mzilikazi Road, even though Bastard is supposed to be watching his little sister Fraction, even though mother would kill me dead if she found out; we are going. There are guavas to steal in Budapest, and right now I’d die for guavas, or anything for that matter. My stomach feels like somebody just took a shovel and dug everything out.”
In total, seven women are on the list, the others being Alison MacLeod with Unexploded, Charlotte Mendelson with Almost English, Canadian Ruth Ozeki with A Tale for the Time Being, and New Zealand's Eleanor Catton with The Luminaries.
The judges will meet again in September to decide a shortlist of six books and the winner will be announced at a ceremony on October 15 in London.

Why devolution of power is key to development and stabilty!

 By MDC President Welshman Ncube

Introduction to MDC Manifesto

Due to an absence of devolved a system of government , excessive centralisation of power, high levels of corruption, politicisation of public institutions, awkward institutionalised policy and widespread bad governance - the past three decades have triggered the virtual... collapse of our public service delivery. This has led to declining growth in industry, disempowerment of people and total disregard of the rule of law. With that, the nation has also experienced unsustainable levels of poverty, escalated unemployment rates, inequality and mass brain drain while the rift between people and government has widened.

What the MDC Government will do

The MDC proposes a national policy framework for reconstruction of Zimbabwe anchored on devolution of power. The MDC is convinced that devolution of power is the only way to foster prosperity in the country. It aims to ensure that local communities our national policy framework for sustainable economic transformation will eliminate the prevailing status quo and usher in popular social democratic values and principles. We shall focus on devolving governance and take government to the people so that citizens define their own economic, political and social destiny. We shall decentralize all leadership and administration from a concentrated structure so as to address issues of local employment, opportunities and ensure that civil service and public infrastructure works. This will include:

• Locally - driven economic productivity
• Value addition on the Zimbabwean commodities like diamonds and tobacco
• Proper utilisation of the country’s natural resources
• Proper utilisation of the currently dormant or underutilized human capital
• Participative economic development
• Stabilisation of the country’s international relations in order to create markets and attract international partners
• Creation of a stable environment and opportunities that attract foreign direct investment
• Reviving industry and national infrastructure for full productivity
• Creation of a user-friendly legal and political environment that allows free choice and pursuit of business goals, jobs, decent remuneration, and retirement benefits for labour
• Respect, acknowledgement and legal protection of private property rights
• Revitalisation and strengthening of industry as the basis for economic resuscitation.
• Motivation and utilisation of the Zimbabwean Diaspora to play a more defined and structured role in the promotion of Zimbabwe and national development
• Promotion of the use of all local languages as a means of promoting diverse thinking and ideologies as well as tapping latent skills from the previously-marginalised communities.

Welshman Ncube MDC calls for full devolution of power

Ncube calls for full devolution of power

PROFESSOR Welshman Ncube-led MDC has launched its manifesto and unveiled a policy document "Actions for devolution" in Siachilaba, Binga advocating for full devolution of power to provinces and massive recapitalisation of the country's industry.

The 21 page manifesto tilted "Devolution is our new Revolution" seeks to address the imbalance Zimbabwe suffered under a centralised governance system since independence.

In its manifesto document, the MDC proposes a national policy framework for the reconstruction of Zimbabwe anchored on devolution, as it is convinced that the transference of power to communities is the only way to foster prosperity in the country.

Speaking at the formal launch on Saturday, Prof Ncube said the manifesto was MDC's commitment to marginalised communities and hoped once implemented would bridge the gap between people and their Government.

He said the launch held in Binga, one of the poorest areas in Zimbabwe, was by design because the MDC wanted to prove and make a statement that it had the marginalised interests at heart.

Binga is considered one of the most underdeveloped areas in Zimbabwe, where the majority of people survive on fishing from the Zambezi River.

Prof Ncube said once in government, the MDC would abolish the centralised system and replace it with devolution.

"Due to the absence of a devolved system, excessive centralisation of power, high levels of corruption, widespread bad governance had triggered the collapse of public service delivery.

"Zimbabwe has to move away from centralisation to devolution of power in which local communities can determine their own affairs. Zimbabwe is a failed state mainly because the model of governance we adopted is based on centralisation where the government sought to play a patrimonial role therefore disempowering other areas."

The manifesto focuses on three pillars, governance, revitalising the economy and social agenda which MDC hopes will attract communities to vote for its parliamentary and council candidates.

The launch was attended by MDC deputy president Edwin Mushoriwa, secretary general Priscilla Misihairabwi–Mushonga and deputy national chairman Frank Chamunorwa, parliamentary and council candidates and national executive members.

This election is about policies not slogans and faces: Joshua Mhambi!

Lest We Forget III

Okuqakathekileyo yikutshintsha uhulumende na?The fallacy and myth hangs all over and is being sponsored to create haste, desperation and a sense of stupid urgency to change regimes as if people discovered in 2000 that the ZANU(PF) regime is corrupt, tyrannical and a killer machine. Those who claim that the most important task is to remove the devil we know and we think and plan latter about what we want, are criminal opportunists and confusionists driven by greed for political glory than love of the nation. Thank God we have been given a glimpse into what some political actors are made of in terms of character, competence and capacity, and how they were going to govern had they been able to take power. If you look at them closely, they belonged and benefited from the system. Some of them were active participants in the genocide against the people. So they want it crushed before it names them and hope that their villain acts will be forgotten in the euphoria of change. Watch them as they fight for power within their own ranks.

We cannot accept change to be the guiding ideology if that change does not define itself explicitly. The change of personalities or names of parties is a smokescreen to us, it is not change. We do not have personal vendettas with those currently in office belonging to ZANU. We say, what will befall them must be a historical process, not an act of vengeance, revenge or hatred. If we call for justice, then justice will come, not by forgetting how we got into this mess but by going through it all the way. True change has no short cuts.

Change is not a matter of fantasy but reality. Reality is that change is slow and gradual. It requires hard work, a bit of luck, a fair amount of self-sacrifice and a lot of patience. The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary. On the other hand fantasy believes that a sudden transformation will bring a total change in our political fortunes bypassing work, luck, self-sacrifice and time in fantastic stroke. That is why it was important to have a government of national unity it has shown as who is who in Zimbabwean politics. Sadly, the regime has also been exposed in its inability to adapt to change and continues to believe that it was joined by other political parties in governing the country. They have continued to mature in their vices. This can be likened to a marriage where one partners continues with their pre-marriage habits.

It is true that the call for change has gained popularity and the next government will be based on non-other than those whose ticket is change. We should not fear change that is brought about by reactionary factors; it will not be long before those who back it realize the limitation of opportunism. In facat those who are observant have realized it already. We do not believe that being popular implies that you are right. Popularity will give you the mandate to rule but cannot give you answers to historical injustices. The regime (ZANU-PF) now facing collapse was once popular and people danced for it everywhere, but that did not make it right or less corrupt. History is very rude; it neither respects the powerful, the popular or the royal. It disregards masks and manipulation and exposes evil and short-sightedness as it is. Who imagine that ZBC and ZTV could be flooded with Nkomo and false praises being sang about him today? You recall Robert Mugabe saying of Nkomo and ZAPU. I quote Nkomo writing to Mugabe in 1983 "You added, “Dr. Nkomo was trying to overthrow my government”. “ZAPU and its leader, Dr. Joshua Nkomo, were like a cobra in a house. "The only way to deal effectively with a snake is to strike and destroy its head.” The man who was said to be leading dissidents and made the Ndebele earn public wrath in the same station. ”Dissident Chii?-MuNdere.” Let those who are placed before the gravy train drink it, we are not so the struggle continues.

We are not against any progressive forces that can improve the lot of our people, but what we are against is the worship of power and the fascist glorification of populism as an end in itself. We do not want people to support faces but policies. As a party we cannot betray the principle of choice denying people no matter how few, the right to be heard. That is why the call for coalition with others for the sake of taking short cuts will not wash. Stable democracies are marked by the harmonious cooperation of minorities and majorities. We cannot change or mortgage our policies for political expedience.

The fallacy of splitting votes remains a fallacy except to those who sponsor it. There no division in votes. People assume that votes are like sweets that must be shared equally among children where each gets the same number. No this is contest for power and a promise for prosperity. People must take responsible for their choices. Voters know what they want, so let them decide as it is their right to do so. Those who are undecided and do not know who to vote for are very dangerous voters and are not promoting democracy. They are not different from those who coerce people to vote for them. On the other hand there could be not offer suitable for them, but in that where two or more evils are available, wisdom is in choosing the lesser evil.
Mhambi wrote this on his face book page!

Paul Siwela speaks out on Matabele Grievances

Siwela speaking out on his face book page:

How many Matebele nationals are aware that we are living during dangerous times as this world is no longer safe and investing our future and political power outside Matebeleland leadership is even more dangerous and unpardonable and may lead to extiction. How safe is Matebele future under Zimbabwe s current constitution which deprives Matebeleland political power and ignores Matebeleland political grievances?.
Have Matebeles forgotten over 40 000 unarmed Matebele men, women and children who were thrown into disused mine shafts alive, villagers locked up in petrol or diesel doused huts and burnt alive, pregnant women stomach slit open, babies smashed against hard objects and mothers ordered eat their flesh and some villagers ordered to dig shallow graves kneel therein and shot at point blank range using AK47 r...ifles and remaining relatives, friends and neighbours ordered to cover the graves and dance on their top singing shona songs praising the leader of Zanupf President Robert Mugabe. Over 100 000 Matebele women raped and over 1 000 000 Matebeles displaced into Botswana and South Africa and abroad.

What guarantee do Matebeles have now that the current or future Zimbabwe government would not repeat this genocide against the Matebele nation ?.Remember the Zimbabwe constitution did not allow or provide for such genocide yet it happened and the free world ignored that genocide. Matebeles have not forgotten the fate of the white farmers and other citizens who lost their properties and what guarantee that Matebeles can not meet the same fate like the farmers in future under the current or future Zimbabwe government Will 31 July 2013 Matebele vote provide any guarantee against genocide ?

Matebeleland Liberation Organisation ie MLO has no faith in any dispensation that deprives political power to Matebeleland. At the moment the viable option is the independence of The Republic of Matebeleland by 2018. Matebeles must commit to this cause where ever there are. It is the right thing to do. Zimbabwe has a new Independent Television Station

Harare – Zimbabwe’s first independent television station went on air Friday to challenge the 30-year state broadcasting monopoly controlled by President Robert Mugabe.
Mugabe’s party said earlier on Friday it will take all measures to “cripple” what it calls a pirate station.

The station, known as 1st TV, began broadcasting in the evening. It is a satellite feed from outside Zimbabwe using a free network received by an estimated 700 000 homes across the nation.
The state Herald newspaper reported that George Charamba, Mugabe’s spokesperson, said South Africa will be asked to stop broadcasts believed to be beamed from there because they “hurt Zimbabwean interests” ahead of elections on 31 July.
Mugabe’s state television has about 350 000 peak hour evening viewers. The new station hopes to attract 3 million viewers.

The regional free-to-air satellite platform known as Wiztech became available earlier this month after a South African court ordered that country’s state broadcaster to stop using it to transmit its programming at no cost because of infringements of copyright laws.
The latest independent Zimbabwe Advertising Products Survey said Wiztech satellite signal decoder receivers brought SABC programmes and regional gospel church broadcasts to up to five viewers in impoverished homes as Zimbabweans turned away from the ZBC programmes seen as a key propaganda tool for Mugabe’s Zanu-PF party.

Pay television satellite channels have about 40 000 subscribers in Zimbabwe. The free service has seen satellite dishes mushrooming on impoverished township roofs, hostels and shanty dwellings, some powered by car batteries, in the past five years as local terrestrial state TV deteriorated.
Ahead of the 31 July elections, state television and radio have been broadcasting Zanu-PF campaign rallies live, using new outside broadcast facilities provided by China. The television on Wednesday broadcast a Mugabe campaign rally live for nearly three hours.

Why the Zimmerman's verdict is not just about Trayvon Martin only

There are people that want to fool themselves either because they are out of touch with reality or simply racists. They say that the infamous George Zimmerman verdict was not about race. Well, hear it direct from a black man living in America.  I have said it before in my earlier writings that America is a nation that is still trying to redeem it itself from the wounds of racial injustice. Over four hundreds years of a systematic system that celebrated and boomed in the trade and dehumanizing one group of people. Nobody can begin to imagine the scars black people in America endured for many generations.  Former President George W Bush summed it this  way: One of the greatest exoduses in our time was also one of the greatest crimes in history!  He was speaking on his first trip to Africa back in 2003,  in Senegal standing on one of  the largest slave ports shrines.

Statistics show that there are over  two million black men in America's prisons today. That is almost as big as the whole population of the country of Botswana. It has been proved that black man are targeted by law enforcements organizations. It is also worth noting that while America is a very legal minded country, the people that exert the hand of the law do not think black people are not worth a comma in the system. Yes they can "act and  play of theatre " like a circus, yet the morale part of justice is divorced completely. This defeats the very purpose of justice in the first place. Justice in its purest form is for those who are weak to get equally treatment with those who are strong. Otherwise the strong are able to dominate the weak all  times. I must say that America is not alone in this predicament, we see that in other parts of the world. Money can buy freedom.

I have been in this great country for a little while now, and I have not been spared from racism either. I have  had my license unnecessarily suspended for trivial things. Driving on the road as a black can easily  get one in trouble. There are many instances when I had to  suffer humiliation and injustices even in job markets, just for that  simple reason. I am pretty sure every black man would testify in that regard. I remember one time I was pulled over the side of the road for allegedly swerving while I was driving. The well known racists police crews in Speedway all gathered around me as if I was a criminal with their cruisers. They tested me for alcohol or drugs  related in anyway possible but found nothing. Each time they fail to find something, they would continue to look for something else. It took them over an hour to finish conducting that exercise. They finally let me go after delaying me blessed all that time. Not without issuing me a miscellaneous ticket for swerving.

As time went on I finally gathered  the courage to fight this type of injustice in court. They assume that every black man has a weapon, illegal drugs or alcohol. The system is obviously not going to change in  long time, however we must never allow this status quo to remain. It was Martin Luther King Jr who said "Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere" Nelson Mandela who is fighting for this life in a hospital in South Africa, once said "Courage is not the absence of fear, it is when courage overcomes fear that we are brave" Our children do not have to go through the same struggles that we and our forefathers have gone through.  There are millions of Trayvon  Martins . This evil of injustice and racial profiling must cease. A ticking time bomb must be diffused. Just keeping it in perspective. Peace out.

Tshinga Dube bemoans failure to address Gukurahundi

12 July 2013 |
ZANU-PF central committee member and parliamentary candidate for Bulawayo's Makokoba constituency retired Colonel Tshinga Dube says his party's failure to effectively resolve long-standing concerns in Matabeleland, including the 1980s Gukurahundi massacres, remains a sore point for people in the region.

Dube bemoaned failure to address the Gukurahundi and marginalisation protests saying he had warned his colleagues this would cost the party support in the elections.

"I have said it over and over again that we have failed to address these issues (Gukurahundi and marginalisation)," said Dube. "A lot of unpleasant things happened here. Somebody who was not affected might just say it was a war while those who were affected will call it by a different name."

Dube said he had proposed that the National Organ on Healing and Reconciliation should work with chiefs from the region in organising rituals of reconciliation and "pardoning each other".

"We are not even touching the nerve centre of the problems. People may smile at you, but deep down they still retain a lot of hatred. Until we have that apology made, people will continue to harbour grievances."

Dube also suggested that his party's persistent liberation war rhetoric is not in sync with young people's aspirations as they are more concerned about getting an education, jobs and a decent life.

"History is a good subject for people to know where they came from, but I am not one of those people who want to make people live in the past," said Dube.

"Young people's aspirations are shaped by their present circumstances; so, it would be a mistake to pre-occupy them with the history of the liberation struggle which happened more than 30 years ago."

Welshman Ncube Speaks out on grand coalition!

Whoever made the initial post needs his head examined. I have NOT at any time asked to be first Vice President in the so called grand coalition. I have NOT asked for any position in that grand coalition. I have no issues with Khupe being first or second or 3rd vice president or whatever else she might want to be in tha...t coalition. I have no interest whatsoever in that grand coalition. I don't want any position in it. Never will. I have NOT spoken nor will I speak to anyone in that coalition.

All you have to do is to read the abusive, disrespectful, vile, evil, intolerant, undemocratic, vitriolic, tribalistic and hurtful posts by MDCT and grand coalition supporters in this and other similar threads to realize that these people are only hypocritical opponents of ZANUPF. The harder they appear to oppose ZANUPF, the more they exhibit every vice we know to be a characteristic of the ZANUPF DNA.

This is exactly the reason we will never be part of a grand coalition which opposes ZANUPF only in name when in fact it has the same DNA as ZANUPF. Let them not under estimate our unshakable resolve to stand up against ZANUPF in ALL its manifestations. The insults, the abuse, the naked exhibition of the ZANUPF DNA in the attacks on us merely serve to nourish our resolve to stand up against intolerance, evil, tribalism, injustice and spiteful politics. If we give in now to the evil politics, all the years of relentless abuse when unspeakable injustices have been done to us would have been in vain.

We will stand up against mob intimidation, against injustice, against discrimination, against being treated as second class citizens and hurtful politics with the stubborn resilience they have never seen.

To those members and supporters of the MDC who are familiar with the unnegotiable values and principles we stand for and for which we are prepared to die if need be,

I say do not despair in the face of the relentless attacks on us, the collective leadership of the MDC will NEVER betray you! DEVOLUTION IS OUR NEW REVOLUTION! We will not yield

Mass shootings trends: Are violent video games responsible?

In the wake of  mass shootings or killing trends in America today, one would not doubt that there is something wrong with the socio economic culture thereof.  We are living in a dream period of time, where  we have all sorts of gadgets. This gadgets  helps us do whatever we want without moving an inch. You can order pizza without even picking up a telephone. We are able to communicate to the whole world just by the touch of a button on the keyboard. This is something that many generations that lived before us would have envied. They use to travel many days to get to the other side of the world. We are able to do it in un believable time. And yet we are the least patient generation in the history of time. It seem the more the inventions that make our life easy, the less the patient of that people. Its not just being impatient, its also being selfish and unappreciative.

Had someone told me that many years ago before I migrated to the  first world. I would never had believed him/her. Growing up in the  tiny villages of  Midlands in Zimbabwe, I had no knowledge of the outside world. We did everything by hand.. We had no form of electronic s at all. As a matter of fact we did not even have electricity and running water. For water we had to dig up some wells. For fuel we had to go and fetch some firewood in the forest. For food we had to farm. Most of the times we used our bare hands, except few times when we were lucky to have somebody lend us their oxen to plough. There was no wall mart, no grocery stores and no fast foods around. We had to walk half a day to get to the nearest store. Almost 90% of the times, us the  kids used to be sent to the stores for any grocery needs. Mostly it was sugar, and tea leaves. We ground our maize . And that was tedious process. We did not have any buses to ferry us to school. We had to walk at least 10 miles to and from. Some times bare footed. be it in winter or summer.

Now that I leave in the developed world. I wish my kids would experience what I went through just for a day, so that they can appreciate what they have. Nowadays kids hardly experience real life, they spend too much time on these  electronic gadgets. This leads to stress, even experts agree. There are some signs of stress that people should not ignore among the youth emanating from both loneliness and bad influence. An average American youth is lonely, and his or her only way out is short term sensations like beer and drugs. Some would even go on to crime just to feel acceptable. There are lot of gangs that are ready to take those who are falling from the harsh and unforgiving social band wagon. This is a culture that breeds and worship greatness. One has to be a football star, baseball star, basket ball star or even movie star. My Pastor put it well this weekend when he said that  almost every one cannot fail to see somebody being honored in our televisions. To make matters worse we are allowing our kids to be influenced by people that we do not even know. Foul language, and violence is what we reap at the end of the day.

This week's biggest losers at random

1) Spanish National Soccer team they lost to Brazil 3-0 last Sunday.

2)Serena Williams lost to a little known Germany girl Liscke in Wimbledon final

 3) Mandla  Mandela, lost court ruling and that meant the entire Mandela family got back graves that he exhumed earlier.

4) Egyptian President Morsi Mohammed was removed by the military after street protests ending his rule.
5) Zimbabwe's Highlanders Bosso , lost to Chicken Inn last week, allowing the fast food team to be catch up with them on the log standing.

My facsination about President Obama's vist to Africa: Check! A must read article!

I  am still fascinated about the President's trip to  the mother land. A writer in Yahoo news put it very well that President Obama was competing with history during this trip. First he went to Senegal. I guess we all know that Senegal had had one of the biggest slave ports in Africa. There is a monument there that stands to this very day. Secondly, he went to South Africa, where he visited Nelson Mandela's cell in Robben Islands. (Now also a historic monument) The column writer also noted that President Obama was matching his predecessor G.W Bush who is famous for being generous to Africa who apparently was also in Zambia. (Hardly 1000 miles away) We will remember that Bush went and visited Senegal back in 2003 making it his first foreign trip. He made one of the most  striking statements  "One of the greatest exoduses of all time is also one the greatest crimes in history" He was standing on that gorge monument port where slaves were packed before being shipped to America. I  should have mentioned that Bush's wife invited Obama's wife to speak at her foundation in Tanzania. Only in Tanzania, can Republicans and Democrats unite in that manner.

He, the writer also noted that Obama is the first black  President of America, and even as Mandela was the first black President of South Africa. Before you say, Eish I am tired of  your politics. I will say what I found more interesting and a little awkward other than that the two meet/were in Tanzania at the same time is the fact that he called the old man Mandela  by his clan name "Madiba" more than once. I am a big fan of both of these guys but "Madiba" made me jealous. It felt like that was some intrusion of some kind. Not to long ago did Mandela's daughter Makaziwe castigate  the world media for  intruding private space. That  should only be reserved for certain people. "Ngokwethu lokho" People like me. That is just my feeling. Its like somebody who is not in my inner circle calling me Gagisa.

As a matter of fact, I am also called Madiba by those in my inner circles, really that is the source of my jealousy if the truth be told. On a different note seriously, I am happy for Obama' visit to South Africa, and Africa in general. Now that I am an African in America , that brought me joy. I am also also historically a South African. My twin is still down there in SA,  his name is Mandla Mandela. I move to Zimbabwe during the war. It was a political strategy thank to thanks to Abraham Nkiwane, a great ZAPU think tank and master mind. (Check PF' ZAPU's old records about this great man. He is credited for eradicating tribalism by introducing nicknames names in the camps. That is why most people who went to war of liberation had two names) Long story. I trace my roots all the way to Zululand.

There were  good news that in Zimbabwe yesterday, actually  in Bulawayo to be specific. It is said that residents woke up to a surprise only  to find that Mains street has  been renamed Joshua Nkomo Avenue. Dr Nkomo who was one of Africa's most illustrious leaders and son of the son died 14 years ago on the 1st of July. Zimbabweans and Africa in general are forever indebted to him. One of the most intriguing thing I heard yesterday in face book was that most people do not want the late Dr Joshua Nkomo called "Umdala Wethu" they say that Umdala wethu is 'patronizing him". They just want him called in the old  affectionate way "Umdala" It means the old man! Most will remember that it was people like President Mugabe who added "wethu'  to Umdala. Wethu means ours.  Coming back to President Obama, the guy impressed me immensely when he greeted the crowd in Zulu/Ndebele. He said something like  "Salibonani mzansi" The crowd was electrified. Its a crazy world, I am just keeping it in perspective!
