The socio- economic and political landscape of Zimbabwe right now is nothing short of pathetic for lack of a better word. In Zimbabwe there is only one thing constant and that is President Mugabe everything else changes. Name it, even the currency of the country itself. Really everything else is shambles. Hospitals are just death traps and so are roads and infrastructure. There is so much hope less ness and gloom among millions of citizens in the country, The only hope that they have is leaving the country. In the past fifteen years Zimbabweans have scattered everywhere in the world in search of better living. Nothing is affordable in Zimbabwe, not even death itself. We have seen spine chilling pictures of pregnant women illegally sneaking into the barbed wired fenced border of neighboring country South Africa. We have seen the images of thousands of Zimbabweans struggling in south Africa and Botswana without any place to stay or jobs, yet they would prefer anything outside the country to the point of death itself. In short despite the Big ZANU slogans Zimbabwe is a failed State.
People of Zimbabwe have seen it all. This government has unleashed every weapon known to mankind to oppress and suppress the people. They will not think twice about anything within their reach to stay in power. I usually say this is a "government which neither fears God nor regard men"
The people's frustration on this regime is no longer a secret. Its neither a political gimmick nor mere hate of the ruling party but a human survival issue. There is no civil servants anymore, neither is there any strong non political civil groups. The ruling party has turned everyone into a praise singer. Whoever praises more gets more. there has never been any time like this in the history of the nation, even going back to the dark days of Rhodesia. The wealth and resources are now back in the hands of the few, and worse still now people can no longer raise a voice of descent. The majority of people think that things were better in Rhodesia and I mean far much better. Black people were oppressed but at least could afford food on the table for their families. It has taken this regime many years to conquers every institution and that includes the church organizations. People are no doubt at the mercy of this regime unless and until something happens. Something is beyond human capability.
