Why Dr Nkomo was ahead of his time in Zimbabwe!

As we remember, review and celebrate the life of the late VP Dr Joshua Nkomo, one thing that is clear is that Zimbabwe was once given a leader, but was not ready for him, hence the country is in this current status. Here is why Nkomo was a number one candidate and leader of Zimbabwe, the guy believed in true unity and not tribalism. For many of us who are thinking that he made a mistake in standing for minorities especially Matabelend and Midlands. Whether wrong or right, Nkomo was true to his convictions. Many of us argue that in 979 in Lancaster house in London, Nkomo missed a golden opportunity to  Matabeleland succession. The late Chief Khayisa Ndiweni is on record as to have stood firm on succession of Matabeleland. Many of us the young people blame him for stopping the civil war in Entumbane. Again depending on which side you looking at there are pros and cons, but bottom line the man had the whole country at heart. His idea of Zimbabwe was far much more than the present leaders can understand including RG Mugabe. This is because the President of Zimbabwe has never truly believed or sacrificed anything for unity of all people, except power. It seems of the only person who was blind to this deep division and regionalism is Dr Joshua Nkomo, hence he got the title Father Zimbabwe! President Mugabe has recently done a few things to honor the late Dr Joshua Nkomo in Bulawayo that includes erecting the Nkomo's statue on Main street in Byo and also renaming the airpot in that city. he however has not done anything around the country of which this man is respected and named after. instead he is trying by all means to make him belong to Matebeleland. ( I deliberately skipped "Gukurahundi" of which Mugabe claims it was a time of madness, but thousands of Nkomo's supporters in Matabeleland and Midlands were butchered  by the North Korean trained 5 Brigade ) Nkomo had to flee for his life to Britain the same country that he fought hard against. I did not include the infamous Shona grand plan which has been in operation for the last thirty something year!
